Coach Sammi (Gunter) Hogan

Sammi (Gunter) Hogan is the head tennis coach for the Mustang tennis team.  Coach Hogan grew up in Wills Point, Texas where she played many competitive sports and graduated  5th in her class.  After graduating from Wills Point High School, Sammi attended Collin College where she was a member of the nationally ranked volleyball team.  Coach Hogan also played tennis for Collin, where she was a national singles champion, earning All-American and Academic All-American Honors.  Sammi’s college doubles partner was Rebecca Clemmons-Duncan, who was a J.J. Pearce graduate.

After two memorable years at Collin, Coach Hogan decided to focus solely on academics and attended Texas A&M University.  Sammi graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health and began working for RISD in 2002.  In Coach Hogan’s time with RISD, she has taught 8th grade science, high school health and elementary P.E.  Coach Hogan has also coached volleyball, basketball and track for RISD.   During the summer of 2011, Sammi completed her Master’s in Educational Administration through Lamar University.  Coach Hogan currently teaches P.E. at Merriman Park Elementary and loves being able to work with children of all ages in her daily schedule.

Sammi married Rob Hogan in November of 2015. She and Rob love spending time with their families, friends, and beloved Cocker Spaniels Hershey and Gracie. Rob is the assistant tennis coach for Plano West H.S.  Sammi loves to be outside and is a huge Texas Rangers fan.

Coach Hogan is happy to be a Pearce Mustang for the 13th year, and looks forward to a wonderful 2018-2019  with her tennis team and her Merriman Park P.E. Students.
